Logo Design

Balloon Lab

Overview:

Balloon Lab's business is about creating fun, colorful, yet sophisticated balloon decorations. To them, balloons are for more than just little kids' birthdays, they are a way to decorate any occasion with class.

Challenge:

Create a design that encapsulated the fun, colorful world of balloons within a very polished wrapping. A stipulation included using the full company name with an icon capable of being identified on its own.

Solution:

A very thin arcing font was chosen to instill a light, airy feeling as well as mimic shapes created by some balloon decorations. Light blues and greens with slight gradients hint at the natural translucency of inflated balloons. A reflection was added to enhance the sleekness of the design.

Tailgate Tees

Overview:

Tailgate Tees creates humorous t-shirts for college sports games. The t-shirts depict one of the teams mocking the other in any manner of degrading fashions. These t-shirts are sold online and during tailgate parties before games.

Challenge:

Tailgating is more than just getting pumped up for the big game, it is also about drinking and having a good time. The Tailgate Tees logo needed to be a fun and playful image that would stand on its own. The logo would also appeal to students by illustratating the excitement and fun of partying.

Solution:

Using the keg in place of the "I" came early on in the concept. After the playful font was chosen, the characters emerged from the "A's" and were brought to life through their drunken activities.

Tec N Tec

Overview:

Tec N Tec brought several computer technologies together under one roof to offer clients a one-stop shop ranging from web development to IT services.

Challenge:

The company wanted a very clean, minimalist design that reflected the technical world in which they live.

Solution:

Computer screens use combinations of red, green and blue light to form all of the colors in the visible spectrum. These colors are used in the logo to represent the various services Tec N Tec offers. The white "T" symbolizes Tec N Tec as the culmination of all the company's services because white light is created using all colors.

Ewan Networks

Overview:

Ewan Networks' initial business concept revolved around broadband wireless media and the propagation of this media to end-users nation-wide. Ewan Networks has since evolved into AccessKey IP.

Challenge:

Ewan planned on manufacturing units for receiving broadband signals. Aside from needing an iconic design, consideration for various types of imprinting, engraving or embossing was required. Ewan wanted a symbol and name treatment that could work together or separately depending on their application.

Solution:

The Ewan "E" is a blending of the computer power symbol and an antenna emitting signals. The movement in the icon is meant to represent the change Ewan was bringing to the technology world.

Anshell Media

Overview:

Anshell Media was a project to start a national Democratic radio network, which eventually evolved into Air America Radio.

Challenge:

Create a strong corporate logo with stability and movement with suggestion towards the broadcasting of information.

Solution:

A strong movement from left to right enhances the effect of the outward expanding radio waves. The gold bar and compact font for "Anshell Media" create a stable base.

The Idea Machine

Overview:

After 30 years in the marketing and advertising business, the newly renamed company, The Idea Machine, was looking to reinvent itself and its image.

Challenge:

Give The Idea Machine a fresh, modern image that expressed the dynamic nature of their business.

Solution:

The bright red in the exclamation point with the quiet grey and black for the other text symbolizes the big visions The Idea Machine envisions from even the most basic business concepts. A sans-serif font replaces a traditional serif font to give a more contemporary look.

Where the Surplus Goes

Overview:

Where the Surplus Goes works very much like Overstock.com, except WSG pulls most of their product base from small businesses and keeps no inventory.

Challenge:

WSG wanted no icon, symbol or acronym, just a compact display of the entire website address.

Solution:

An elegant, but clean sans-serif font was chosen for screen readability. Just plain text would be boring, so the "L" is exaggerated and topped with an arrow to suggest a positive direction.

Senticore

Overview:

Senticore began in the South American lumber industry, but quickly looked to venture out into very different arenas including poker, venture capitalism and professional hockey.

Challenge:

Senticore wanted a fresh, new corporate image as they entered into new territories, but they did not want to lose their roots.

Solution:

The two blue swooshes form a minimalist "S" and mimic the blades on a lumber rotary saw blade.
